The Correctional Alternative Placement Program facility opened July 1, 2010.  Management Training Corporation built the facility and operates the program. CAPP offers intensive treatment programs for substance abuse and cognitive issues for up to 432 low to moderate risk male offenders needing substance abuse treatment.

SAWC is a work camp located in the small, eastern Idaho town of St. Anthony and is designed to house 240 low-risk, minimum and community-custody male offenders.

Pocatello Women's Correctional Center (PWCC)

PWCC is the department's first facility designed specifically to meet the unique program needs of female offenders. It opened in April 1994, has an operating capacity of 289 female offenders and houses all custody levels. The facility operates the reception and diagnostic center for women.

Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino (ICIO)

Idaho Correctional Institution in Orofino was originally an old state school and mental health facility that was modified into a prison. A new wing was added in 1988.  ICIO is designed to house up to 541 male offenders.  The facility primarily houses medium custody offenders but also houses offenders needing protective custody. Givens Hall, a unit adjacent to the compound, serves as a work camp. ICIO offers vocational work programs, education, and other programming opportunities.

North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI)

NICI is a former military radar station north of the small town of Cottonwood. This facility is a program-specific prison with an operating capacity of 414 male offenders. NICI primarily houses offenders sentenced under a retained jurisdiction sentence.

South Idaho Correctional Institution (SICI)

SICI houses 656 minimum-custody male offenders in a dormitory setting. Most offenders are assigned a job and work inside or outside the facility. Vocational Work Projects include road crews for the Idaho Transportation Department and conservation and fire fighting crews for the U.S.

South Boise Women's Correctional Center (SBWCC)

South Boise Women’s Correctional Center is a treatment and transition facility for minimum security female offenders. SBWCC has an operating capacity of 284 offenders in two separate housing units. Programming opportunities are based on cognitive and behavioral change through intensive treatment, education and accountability. SBWCC provides the Correctional Alternative Placement Program (CAPP), Traditional Rider, Timer Pathways, Work Opportunities, Education and other programs.

ISCI is the department's oldest and largest state-run facility and has an operating capacity of 1688 offenders.  It is the primary facility for long-term male, medium-custody offenders.  ISCI also has special-use beds for infirmary, outpatient mental health, and geriatric offenders.  The facility is surrounded by a double fence, which is patrolled by sentry dogs.  There are also seven towers to monitor perimeter security and offender movement.  The physical plant includes a chapel, recreation center, school, large correctional industries operation and a me

IMSI opened in November 1989 to confine Idaho's most disruptive offenders.  The facility has an operating capacity of 402 offenders and is located within a double perimeter fence reinforced with razor wire and an electronic detection system.  The population is primarily comprised of close custody and administrative segregation offenders.

The Idaho Department of Correction assumes operations of the Idaho Correctional Center on July 1, 2014. To reflect the change in status from private to state operations, the name of the facility becomes the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC).
