Sex Offender Treatment Services
For Incarcerated Offenders
IDOC has developed a significant array of services for the incarcerated sexual offender. Treatment follows research-based guidelines developed by the Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM) and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA). Delivery of services to this segment of our population are based on individualized treatment plans which focus on issues such as strength and skill building, emotional regulation, and developing appropriate relationships.
Presently IDOC maintains a 51 bed program located at the North Idaho Correctional Institution. This program focuses on offenders who have been assessed as medium risk. The Department also provides services for low risk offenders at South Idaho Correctional Institution (SICI). To augment the Department’s services, IDOC has contracted SANE Solutions to provide sex offender treatment at the Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) for up to 36 offenders who for medical or mental health reasons cannot be transferred to one of the other existing programs. IDOC, in partnership with Correctional Corporation of America (CCA) has also developed a 59 bed program for higher risk offenders delivered at the ICC facility.
Plans are presently in place to continue to increase the availability of services for sexual offenders. Additional low-risk groups, patterned after the program delivered at SICI, will be placed in the Idaho Correctional Institution at Orofino (ICIO). It is also anticipated that early in 2011, services will be instituted for a previously under-served segment of our population, female offenders convicted of sexual offenses.
