Housing up to 100 male offenders who are classified as minimum and community custody, South Idaho Correctional Institution Community Work Center, opened in August of 2004. A new building used for classrooms, visiting and administrative offices and housing for offenders who are nearing release, was added in June 2009.
The facilities leadership supports the IDOC's mission to Protect Idaho through Safety, Accountability, Partnerships and Opportunities for Offender Change. Offenders are afforded the privilege of community based employment, treatment programs, support groups, community service and other possibilities to promote a positive and successful return to the community. These offenders live at the facility but are allowed to work outside the facility. This helps them prepare while still providing protection to the community through high accountability and supervision.
Note: The use of tobacco products on IDOC property is not allowed, to include parking areas. No tobacco can be brought into any facility. All tobacco products must be stored in a locked vehicle.
