ICC opened in July 2000 as the first state-owned, privately-operated facility. It was built on state property by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and is currently operated by CCA. ICC has an operating capacity of 2080 male offenders of close, medium and minimum custodies levels. IDOC provides oversight of the contract with ICC. Note: The use of tobacco products on IDOC property is not allowed, to include parking areas. No tobacco can be brought into any facility. All tobacco products must be stored in a locked vehicle.
