Offender’s throat slashed at ISCI
BOISE, November 8, 2010 – The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) has asked the Ada County Sheriff's Office to investigate a throat-slashing attack on an offender at Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) south of Boise.
Offender Charles Curtis Goslin, IDOC #91670 (DOB: 12/13/1983), allegedly used a blade broken from a plastic shaving razor to slash a 10-inch wound across the neck of another offender at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery and was released. He is now recovering back at ISCI.
"The prisons operated by the Idaho Department of Correction are among the safest in the nation," said IDOC Director Brent Reinke. "No level of violence is acceptable in our institutions, and we will do everything we can to assist detectives with their investigation."
On December 18, 2009 in Gem County, a judge sentenced Goslin to three-to-ten years in prison for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor. Goslin was eligible to be considered for parole on September 3, 2011. Goslin is now being held at Idaho Maximum Security Institution.
Idaho State Correctional Institution is a medium security prison south of Boise. It has capacity for 1,688 male offenders.
