Since 1976 there have been 24 offenders who have received a death sentence from the State of Idaho. Data prior to 1976 is not readily available. Since 1970 Idaho has had only one execution. It occurred in 1994. The breakdown of death sentences handed down per year is as follows:

1976 - 1, 1981 - 1, 1982 - 1, 1983 - 2, 1984 - 1, 1985 - 1, 1986 - 1, 1988 - 1, 1989 - 1, 1990 - 2, 1991 - 1, 1992 - 2, 1993 - 1, 1994 - 2, 1996 - 1, 1998 - 1, 2001 - 1, 2002 - 1, 2004 - 2

As of October 2005, 19 of these 24 offenders (18 male, 1 female) are still under sentence of death but have appeals pending with the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
