About the Board
The Idaho Department of Correction is a state agency overseen by a three-member board appointed by the governor. Board of Correction members are appointed to six-year terms.
Chairman
Robin Sandy was appointed to the board in July 2006 and reappointed in 2011. She has served four terms under four governors. Sandy came to the Board of Correction after over eight years on the board of the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole. Sandy's background includes consulting work for businesses in the United States, England and India. She also owns her own company and has served as the government affairs director for The American Cancer Society. Sandy's term expires in 2017.
Vice Chairman
Dr. David McClusky was appointed to the board in January 2013 by Governor Otter. He is a Twin Falls native who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Idaho, and his medical degree at Northwestern University. He is an Air Force veteran who has been active in civic and charitable organizations in the Twin Falls area. McClusky's term expires in 2019.
Secretary
Howard G. “J.R.” Van Tassel was appointed to the board in January 2010. He served 13 years on the Nez Perce County Board of Commissioners and seven years on the Lewiston City Council. As a county commissioner, he was an active member of the Idaho Association of Counties. Van Tassel’s term expires in 2015.
Contact the Board at board@idoc.idaho.gov. Please do not submit parole information to the Board of Correction. A separate agency, the Idaho Commission for Pardons and Parole, manages those requests.
