The Department of Correction manages approximately 20,000 offenders in the state of Idaho.

  Interstate Compact (ICAOS)

The State of Idaho is a member of the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) compact agreement. This nationwide Compact went into effect in September 2004. It standardizes the application process and allows for a uniform transfer of supervised offenders between states.

The Compact was put in place to:

Promote public safety.
Protect rights of victims.
Control movement of offenders.
Provide for effective tracking.
Provide for the rehabilitation of the offender.

Interstate Compact applicants must meet certain guidelines and pay an application fee. The current fee is $100. Eligibility criteria are described in the pamphlet below.
