Due to a shortage of beds in Idaho’s prisons and jails, the Idaho Department of Correction began sending inmates to the Eagle Pass Correctional Facility (EPCF) in Eagle Pass, Texas in September of 2018. All of the inmates houses at EPCF will be IDOC inmates. 

Up to 620 male inmates will be held at the facility temporarily while the department seeks a long-term solution.

Up to 150 male inmates will be held at the facility temporarily while the department seeks a long-term agreement with a prison-bed provider.

The Correctional Alternative Placement Program facility opened July 1, 2010.  Management Training Corporation built the facility and operates the program. CAPP offers intensive treatment programs for substance abuse and cognitive issues for up to 438 low to moderate risk male inmates needing substance abuse treatment. It houses three different groups of inmates: probationers, parolees and retained jurisdiction. 

St. Anthony Work Camp (SAWC)

SAWC is a work camp located in the small, eastern Idaho town of St. Anthony and is designed to house 262 low-risk, minimum and community-custody male inmates. The facility's primary focus is to provide a vocational work project opportunities offering full-time, constructive, paid employment to inmates.  This is accomplished through contracted work and public service projects with government agencies, non-profit organizations and private employers.

Pocatello Women's Correctional Center (PWCC)

PWCC is the department's first facility designed specifically to meet the unique program needs of female inmates. It opened in April 1994, has an operating capacity of 331 female inmates and houses all custody levels. The facility operates the reception and diagnostic center for women. PWCC also has vocational work projects, Correctional Industries, education, programming, pre-release program and work-release program.

Idaho Correctional Institution in Orofino was originally an old state school and mental health facility that was modified into a prison. A new wing was added in 1988.  ICIO is designed to house up to 580 male inmates.  The facility primarily houses medium custody inmates, but also houses offenders needing protective custody. Givens Hall, a unit adjacent to the compound, serves as a work camp. ICIO offers vocational work programs, education, and other programming opportunities.

North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI)

NICI is a former military radar station north of the small town of Cottonwood. This facility is a program-specific prison with an operating capacity of 414 male inmates. NICI primarily houses inmates sentenced under a retained jurisdiction sentence. Retained jurisdiction provides a sentencing alternative for courts to target offenders who might, after a period of programming and evaluation, be viable candidates for probation rather than incarceration.

SICI houses 590 male inmates and 112 female Riders in the PRC. Most inmates are assigned a job and work inside or outside the facility. Vocational Work Projects include road crews for the Idaho Transportation Department and conservation and fire fighting crews for the U.S. Forest Service.  Some inmates serve as workers in the Correctional Industries program. SICI also operates the pre-release program for the majority of inmates paroling from the system.

South Boise Women’s Correctional Center is a treatment and transition facility for Retained Jurisdiction (Rider) female inmates. SBWCC has an operating capacity of 306 inmates in two separate housing units. Programming opportunities are based on cognitive and behavioral change through intensive treatment, education and accountability.

ISCI is a 1,446-bed, medium-security men's prison south of Boise. Its reception and diagnostic unit (RDU) serves as the entry point for all men entering Idaho's prison system. The facility also has a medical unit and workspace for Correctional Industries' programs.
