Family Orientation

After each Correctional Officer Class graduates from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy, we host a Family Orientation for those new officers and their families. It is a great opportunity for them to learn more about the Department of Correction and the new career they have chosen. The event begins with a welcome message from IDOC Leadership. We discuss some of the many benefits and resources available to them as IDOC and State of Idaho employees and how to take advantage of those. The presentation also includes valuable information on the unique environment and stressors that come with working in a correctional setting and how to maintain that work/life balance. The goal of Family Orientation is to provide employees and their families with information and resources to have a successful and fulfilling career with the Idaho Department of Correction.
