Twice a year, the Ada County Sheriff Employees Association hosts their Shop With a Sheriff event. Each time, they invite their brothers and sisters from other law enforcement agencies. The Idaho Department of Correction always steps up to help in these events.

On Saturday, August 10th 2019, LEOs from various agencies around the Treasure Valley arrived at Walmart on Ten Mile Road in Meridian to assist approximately 115 local kids with some back to school shopping. Staff from Probation and Parole as well as the Prisons Division were on hand to help the kids get some new clothes, supplies and other items for their upcoming school year.

Afterward, all shoppers participated in a barbecue and some dunk tank fun! Officer Matthew Espen from the Idaho State Correctional Center volunteered to be dunked.

This is always a fun event and great for our community! Funding for these events come from community donations. The next Shop With a Sheriff event will be in December, just before Christmas.
