The Probation and Parole division is excited to announce the promotion of Cory Barrier to the position of District Manager in District 3.

Cory graduated from Boise State University in 2003 with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration.

Following graduation, he and his wife, Kristin, moved to Germany where she was stationed in the USAF.

After returning to the US, Cory accepted a position as a Probation and Parole Officer in District 4.

He took a brief hiatus from the IDOC to become a patrol officer with the Boise Police Department, but never felt as home there as he did with his IDOC family.

Cory returned to District 4 as a PPO in 2008, where he gained experience working a variety of caseloads including nearly five years with the Ada County Drug Court and Veteran’s Treatment Court programs.

Cory transferred to the Training Division as a Training Coordinator where he spent three years helping facilitate PPO and CO academies at POST.

Cory was promoted to Deputy District Manager in District 3 in 2017.

When not working, Cory loves spending time outdoors with Kristin, a teacher at his alma mater, Capital High School, and their eight-year-oldson, Oliver.

Whitewater rafting, fly fishing, and hunting are among his favorite activities.

Cory coached youth soccer for 20 years and now enjoys the game as a parent and supporter of his son.

Please help us in welcoming him into his new position.
