CERT welcomes 10 new operators

Operators and audience stand for presentation of the colors

The Idaho Department of Correction’s Correctional Emergency Response Team welcomed 10 new operators Thursday at the graduation ceremony for the 29th annual Basic CERT Academy at Gowen Field in Boise.  

Nine operators from the Wyoming Department of Corrections also graduated from the academy.

The Top Shooter Award was presented to Isaac Villafranca of the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington, Wyo.

The Top Operator Award was presented to Gracen Christensen of North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood, Idaho.

The Leadership Award was presented to Todd Miller of the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins.

The Junker Street Award was presented to Jilene Rossel of Idaho State Correctional Institution in Kuna, Idaho. The award honors the operator who demonstrates unwavering heart and perseverance during the grueling academy. 

Idaho Maximum Security Institution Warden Al Ramirez served as guest speaker at the ceremony.
