The Peace Officers Standards Training Academy is celebrating its 50th year this year.

Corrections Academy Class #77 was the very first class to graduate. Training Coordinator David Heimer challenged the class to restore the old POST plaque.

Class #77 accepted Heimer’s challenge and FSO Acacia Carrick volunteered to start the project and took the plaque home. She came up with 4 designs and the class voted on the final design.

This plaque will also include their class picture, class challenge coin, also created by Acacia, and a dedication to POST’s 50th anniversary.

This plaque will be displayed in classroom F (IDOC classroom), and our future academies will take their photos in front of it.

This class marked over 2,700 Corrections officers to walk the halls at POST.
