Awards Recipients
Julie Oye-Johnson, Education Program Director

Dr. Mary Ellen Nourse received the Audrey Spence Award based on her commitment to the inmate population. Dr. Nourse has implemented Job Service SICI to normalize the job seeking process for institutional work to better match the process of getting a job in the community. Mary Ellen is tireless in building partnerships with outside agencies and adding apprenticeship opportunities to the inmate population.

Marshall Bautista, Adrian Quiroz and Andrew Strebel received Special Commendation awards for the IT assistance they have given staff towards implementing education's IT projects.

Marla Archibald received the Extra Mile award for the community partnerships she has supported to meet the needs of the inmate population. Included in the extracurricular activities Marla has spearheaded are Creative Writing with College of Southern Idaho, BSU's Talkin' Broncos, and Drama Club.

Ambrose Richardson received the Cutting Edge Award for his support of the TABE 11/12 implementation.

The ICI-O Education staff, David Manley, Judy Gilliam and Denys Khalevskyy, received the Teamwork Award for going above and beyond to ensure inmate education opportunities. They have increased GED completions, implemented the U of I Inside Out program and professor lecture series.
