District 7 bike program

Two officers with bikes

District 7 has developed a program (DUI bike program). This program was the brain child of SS John Everett.

The program loans bikes to offenders who do not have, or are unable to obtain a driver's license, so they can more efficiently get around town.

This makes it easier for them to job search, attend treatment, and fulfill the other responsibilities they are tasked with as a result of being on probation or parole.

Sr. PPO Tobin Bird saw that the program was low on usable bikes, so he contacted the Idaho Falls Police Department,  who allowed Tobin to sort through the bikes they had either found, or had been donated. Tobin was able to locate fifteen usable bikes that the police department donated to us for use in our bike program.

Sr PPO Steven Martinez adjusted is work schedule so that he could help Tobin load and transport the bikes back to the district.

These three officers are very community minded. Tobin participates every year to the Walk a Mile in her Shoes walk supporting programs aimed at reducing domestic violence. These three officers are an example to all, and I'm very lucky to have them in District 7.
