District 7 Probation and Parole Recover Out Loud!
Scenes from this year's Recover Out Loud event in District 7.
On Friday, January 31st, the District 7 Probation and Parole office held its second annual Recover Out Loud event, a special effort with the IDOC Free2Succeed Mentor Program. Recover Out Loud is a very popular event, made possible by the generous support of our Idaho Falls community and their willingness to help in IDOC's recovery and reentry efforts!
Recover Out Loud was proud to welcome special guest speakers Idaho Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin, Seventh Judicial District Magistrate Judge Michelle Mallard, ASCA Executive Director Kevin Kempf, Bradford Foster and IDOC Free2Succeed Program Manager Jeff Kirkman. There were over two hundred people in attendance this year, including Idaho State Representatives, Community Providers, IDOC leadership, District 7 Probation & Parole Officers and staff, Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center (IFCRC) staff, a large group of residents from the IFCRC, Free2Succeed Mentors and many returning citizens from the Idaho Falls community.
This year's Recover Out Loud festivities included 4 live bands, gift bags for all attendees, free prizes (including chrome books, televisions and wireless headphones), plenty of food including pizza, sandwiches, cupcakes and delicious treats provided by Mimi Taylor. Gifts and certificates of appreciation were given to each Dist. 7 Free2Succeed mentor, in gratitude for their many hours of volunteerism.
There was a special recognition given to former District 7 Probation and Parole Manager Russ Wheatley for his recent retirement and special recognition to Shawnee Grant, the wife of Lew Grant, a D7 Free2Succeed mentor who suddenly passed away in December.
District 7 Probation and Parole staff considers Recover Out Loud to be our way of giving back to the community - letting our returning citizens know we support them and thanking our Free2Succeed mentors for their help.
