Demonstrator Information

BOISE, November 17, 2011 –The Idaho Department of Correction recognizes the public’s right to exercise their First Amendment right to free speech. The Department is providing specific areas for those wishing to demonstrate in support of and in opposition to the death penalty. Signs will mark the area. 

The demonstration lots will be open at 5:00 a.m. the day of the execution and will remain open until 2 hours after the procedure is completed.  The lots are located at the entrance to the South Boise prison complex, six miles south of Boise on Pleasant Valley Road.  

In the interest of keeping the demonstrations safe, some items are not allowed. Prohibited items include sticks or poles on signs, firearms, alcohol, and glass containers. For the complete listing of the rules, and prohibited items, please review the standards of behavior.

Those wishing to participate need to be aware of the rules for their safety and the safety of others.
