Former instructor accused of having sexual contact with inmate

BOISE, August 8, 2012 -- As the result of an investigation launched by the Idaho Department of Correction’s Office of Professional Standards and turned over to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, a former IDOC instructor has been arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with an inmate.

Stephanie Nicole Klein was hired by IDOC on October 18, 2010. She resigned on May 11, 2012.  She was assigned to South Boise Women’s Correctional Center.  She also taught at South Idaho Correctional Institution, a minimum security men’s prison south of Boise.

The charge of sexual contact with a prisoner is a felony. IDOC refers all felony criminal investigations to the local law enforcement agency which has jurisdiction over the area where the crime allegedly occurred.

Because this is a personnel matter, IDOC will have no further comment.
