BOISE, August 16, 2011 – The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) has chosen two veteran correctional professionals to lead two of the department’s correctional facilities south of Boise.

Terry Kirkham has been named warden at South Idaho Correctional Institution (SICI).  He currently serves as manager of the IDOC District 7 Probation and Parole office in Idaho Falls.

Kirkham started with IDOC in 1990 as a correctional officer at St. Anthony Work Camp and has served in a variety of leadership positions. Kirkham succeeds former SICI Warden Pam Sonnen who retired recently following 29 years of service to IDOC.

Shannon Cluney has been named warden at South Boise Women’s Correctional Center (SBWCC).  He is currently deputy warden of the IDOC Virtual Prison Program (VPP). VPP monitors the department’s contracts with the county jails and privately operated correctional facilities that incarcerate IDOC inmates.

Cluney started with the IDOC in 1987 as a correctional officer and worked his way up the security ranks at Idaho State Correctional Institution and Idaho Maximum Security Institution. Cluney succeeds SBWCC Warden Terressa Baldridge who will become a project manager for the IDOC Education, Treatment and Reentry Bureau.

“Over the years, Terry and Shannon have proven their commitment to the department’s mission of safety, accountability, partnerships and opportunities for offender change,” said IDOC Director Brent Reinke.

“We’re lucky to have correctional professionals of their caliber serving the people of the State of Idaho.”

SICI is a minimum security prison with capacity for 556 male inmates and 100 female inmates. SBWCC is a minimum security prison with capacity for 284 female inmates.

Kirkham and Cluney will officially start their duties on September 6th.
