BOISE, Idaho, February 5, 2013 -- The Idaho Department of Correction has asked the Idaho State Police to conduct an independent investigation of discrepancies in records submitted to the Department regarding staffing levels at Idaho Correctional Center.

The department is under contract with the Corrections Corporation of America to operate ICC.  The contract requires specific staffing levels to ensure the safe operation of the 2060-bed prison.

While conducting a staffing audit to verify contractual obligations were met, the department discovered potential anomalies. IDOC has asked ISP to conduct an independent investigation and audit of these records to determine the extent of the problem and any potential violation of state law.

CCA is cooperating with the investigation and has hired its own independent investigator to review procedures at ICC.
