BOISE, July 19, 2011 – A convicted burglar who had just been sentenced to an Idaho Department of Correction retained jurisdiction program has escaped from the Benewah County Jail in St. Maries.

Jesse John Wilkenson aka Brebner (IDOC #96482) escaped from the jail Friday night. Wilkenson is 20 years old (DOB: 03/01/1991) with brown hair and brown eyes.  He is 5’8”, 146 pounds and has a medium complexion.

Just a few hours before he escaped, a judge sentenced Wilkenson to IDOC’s 365-day retained jurisdiction program. Also known as a rider, the program allows a judge to retain jurisdiction over an offender while he or she undergoes a period of evaluation and treatment. Successful completion of a rider typically allows an offender to be released on probation and avoid a lengthy prison sentence.

Anyone with information about Wilkenson’s whereabouts should call their local law enforcement agency.
