IDAHO FALLS, September 7, 2011 – An Idaho Falls Community Work Center inmate is back in custody after leaving the facility without permission.

Idaho Falls police say last night at 11:18 a citizen reported seeing William Robert Stirm, IDOC #64519, leave the work center in a car that was apparently waiting for him. The citizen followed the car to an apartment building and provided police with the location.

At 12:08 a.m., less than an hour after the escape, police arrested Stirm and the woman who allegedly drove the car.

Stirm is now being held at the Bonneville County Jail and facing possible charges related to his escape. Idaho Falls police say the woman who they believe drove the car has been arrested for helping Stirm escape.

In 2002 in Ada County, a judge sentenced Stirm to one-and-a-half years to 10 years in prison for burglary. In 2005 in Ada County, a judge sentenced Stirm to four years to 14 years in prison for grand theft and grand theft by possession.

Stirm was scheduled to be released on April 4, 2019.
