Honor Guard members represent IDOC at Provo officer’s funeral

Members of the Idaho Department of Correction Honor Guard, Officers H. Packer and C. Fisher, made a humbling trip to Utah on Saturday.   

With the sounds of taps being played, and heads bowed in silence, they offered support for fallen Master Officer Joseph Shinners, his family and the Provo Police Department.  

Officer Shinners passed away from injuries received in the line of duty on January 5th  2019.  

The Provo Department reported that over 800 vehicles participated in the funeral procession, including law enforcement agencies from Chicago,Texas, Florida, New York, Boston, and many others. 

The amount of support not only for Officer Shinners’ family, but the whole law enforcement family was very inspiring.   

Officer Shinners community also came out lining bridges and streets with flags, signs and hands on their hearts showing the fallen officer that had served them faithfully for 3 years love and unconditional support.
