On July 25 two members of the North Region Honor Guard honored the life of a Texas correctional officer who was killed in the line of duty.

Sgt. Jason Lichti and Ofc. Jordan Richter from Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino attended the funeral for Ofc. Timothy Davison. 47.  in New Boston, Tex.

On July 15 an inmate, Billy Joel Tracy, 37, attacked Davison as he was moving the inmate from a day room to a cell at the Barry B. Telford Unit in New Boston.

Investigators believe the inmate beat Davison with an iron bar that is used to open the cell-door slots through which meals are delivered to inmates.

Tracy was serving a life sentence for aggravated assault and burglary, and a 45-year sentence for a separate conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with serious bodily injury on a public servant, and possession of a deadly weapon in a penal institution.

Davison joined TDJC in December 2014.  He is survived by two daughters, two brothers, two sisters and a number of other relatives and friends.
