ICIO Ofc. Sean Nelson receives Silver Cross

This past summer ICIO Special Projects Officer Sean Nelson was taking a 10-man crew of inmates to a job when he came upon a fatal accident directly after it happened. He immediately stopped to render aid to the occupants of the vehicles. A fire started between the vehicles and Sean was able to put it out. Sean stayed on site overseeing potential safety issues. As a certified flagger he assisted the State Police with traffic control when they arrived.

Recently Sean was recognized for his actions at the ICIO Promotion & Awards Ceremony; receiving the IDOC Silver Cross Award presented to him by the award nominator, Special Projects Sergeant, Mike Curtis. Ironically, Sean is also on the North Region Honor Guard team and due to an Honor Guard staffing shortage on the awards ceremony day, also participated in the flag ceremony for the event he was being recognized at. Way to go Sean!
