ICIO Wins 1st Place for Float in Orofino Lumberjack Days Parade

ICIO Float in Lumberjack Days Parade
Lt. Greg Heun, Idaho Correctional Institution - Orofino

ICIO entered a float in the Orofino Lumberjack Days Parade and when the judging was completed, received 1st place, non-commercial entry! This could not have happened without the invaluable help of the personnel at ICIO, staff and inmates. This was the first time ICIO entered a float in the parade and was the 101st public event for the North Region Honor Guard team since it was reestablished in 2005.

The ICIO float was constructed on a Projects trailer with ICIO program displays set up inside and outside. Inmates in the photo, Joshua Wilkie and Harley Fietsam, did the lion's share of the trailer preparation. It was pulled by the CERT Yukon, emergency lights flashing, and flanked on all sides by staff members from the many teams at the prison. Staff handed out candy and nice-looking water bottles. All this was led by the North Region Honor Guard. As the float proceeded along the parade route numerous people called out to the ICIO float team, complimenting them on their presentation. There were over 117 floats entered in this parade this year.
