The phrase “It’s better to give than to receive,” never rang truer than it did, on December 9th.

The Idaho Department of Correction was able to partner with the Ada County Sheriff’s office, as well as many brothers and sisters in law enforcement to support Shop with a Sheriff.

For those not familiar with the program, The Ada County Sheriff Employees Association, sets up this event to pair a child who might not otherwise have a Christmas with a law enforcement professional.

During the event, we were able to have breakfast, compliments of the Eagles Lodge, with the child we were paired with.

Following breakfast everyone met back up at Walmart, where we were able to help the kids shop for Christmas presents, as well as take photos with Santa, law enforcement professionals and kids alike jumped at this opportunity!

Our department was represented by Probation and Parole, Correctional staff from officers through Lieutenants, as well as psych staff.

I was blown away by the amount of staff that showed up, and to see everyone so willing to give of their time for such a great cause!

To watch the kids’ faces light up and the smiles they had was so worth it.  And to see so many agencies working together side by side, really solidified the law enforcement family that we have in this community and great state of ours!

I cannot be more proud of our staff, and of this amazing department!
