Inmate Death at IMSI

Michael Allen Jauhola

Inmate Michael Allen Jauhola, IDOC #040676, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Jauhola had been on death row at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution since 2001 when he was sentenced for the 1998 murder of a fellow inmate. In May, he was moved to the medical unit at the maximum security prison because of an extended illness.

He remained in the infirmary and was in a doctor's care at the time of his death.

The 41-year-old had been housed at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution since 1994, serving time on manslaughter and escape prior to the first degree murder conviction in 2001.

The Ada County Coroner will do an autopsy to verify the cause of death as is standard procedure.

The Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI) houses close custody inmates and is located south of Boise.
