BOISE, Idaho, Nov. 21, 2017 -- At the request of the Idaho Department of Correction, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate at Idaho State Correctional Center.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday, Donald Ray Morton Jr., 55, was found unresponsive in his housing unit. When medical staff arrived, Morton was able to communicate but lost consciousness again a short time later. Morton was declared dead at 7:58 a.m. Sunday.

As it does in the case of all unattended deaths in the South Boise Correctional Complex, or deaths in which the cause is unknown, the Idaho Department of Correction notified the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
