BOISE, Jan. 5, 2015 — The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.

IMSI staff found Donald Peters Shriver, IDOC #21077, unconscious in his cell Sunday at 11: 12 p.m. They immediately initiated resuscitation measures. Shriver was rushed to a Boise hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Shriver was 48 years old (DOB: May 29, 1966). He was serving a life sentence. His criminal record includes convictions for robbery, assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated battery in Twin Falls County; aggravated assault in Ada County and assault on a law enforcement officer in Fremont County.

As it does in response to all apparent suicides in the South Boise Correctional Complex, IDOC has asked the Ada County Sheriff’s Office for assistance with the investigation of the circumstances surrounding Shriver’s death.
