Probation & Parole staff help families celebrate Thanksgiving

Staff stand with meals in baskets
By Glenda Thompson, Probation & Parole District 2

As the holidays draw near, we understand how difficult it can be to for our offenders to provide a meal for their families, which causes additional stress for everyone. We wanted to help reduce the stress for families that are doing all they can to improve their situation yet still come up a little short.

We accepted nominations from PPO’s caseloads to receive a Thanksgiving Feast Basket. Nominations were reviewed by the Morale Task Force and 3 offenders families were chosen to receive a complete feast!

They received a Turkey, all the trimmings (mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, salad, dressing, jello, rolls, sweet potatoes, fruit, green beans, water, pies, etc) family games/gifts (for children) and a $20 grocery gift card (donated by one staff member) to be used for any items we missed.

All items were donated by staff except for the pies which were donated by Change Point Treatment Provider and the turkeys which were donated by The Food Bank in Lewiston.

The meals were delivered by the PO that supervises them.  This was not only good for our recipients but it also brought staff together as the baskets were prepared.
