Starting this week, seven women at Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center’s Community Custody Unit who are working on their GED’s will have an exciting opportunity to participate in the Adult Education Program at Idaho State University’s Adult Success Center.

The Adult Education Program at the Adult Success Center offers free, comprehensive assessment and instruction in basic skills, including reading, writing, math, and English as a Second Language (ESL).

The program will provide them literacy instruction as well as preparation for the GED® Tests.

The immediate benefits to the offenders are that they will have the opportunity to receive a variety of instructional methods. The schedule is flexible as well.

Besides instructors and tutors, there will also be educational software available for them to use. A long-term benefit is that this will contribute to their transition from prison to the community.

PWCC wants to send a huge “Thank You” to Ambrose Richardson our Education Program Manager for putting this amazing opportunity together.
