PWCC officers honored with Good Citizen Award

3 officers stand with certificates
By Warden Amanda Gentry, Pocatello Women's Correctional Center

PWCC was proud to present three officers with a Good Citizen Award.

Correctional Officer Blair received the award for assisting a suicidal community member.  An inmate reported to him that she had just gotten off the phone with a family member that had reported feeling suicidal.  C/O Blair notified the Shift Commander and they were able to contact local services and provide that family member services.

Correctional Officer Wright and Food Service Officer Stettler were coming back to PWCC after attending CERT training when they noticed a woman and a child standing off the side of the road by a truck.  The woman was in distress, indicating that the individual inside the truck was trying to harm her.  The individual in the truck then sped off.  C/O Wright and FSO Stettler remained with the woman and her child until the police and ambulance arrived and provided witness statements.

We are so proud of these three staff members for living the Department’s Mission, Vision and Values—through action!
