Reentry center residents sweep top spots in trail run

Residents stand for photo

Mike Alboucq, a District 7 probation and parole officer, has been taking residents of the Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center running every Sunday morning for nearly two years.

On April 20, they participated in The Spitfire Ultra Trail Challenge, an annual trail run up the Menan Butte. The resident swept the top three spots, even while wearing commissary high tops.

Throughout the summer, the residents will participate in other community based-races.

“I am working with Bill’s Bike and Run to allow the guys to buy real running shoes with a discount,” Mike says.

The group hopes to complete a 10-mile run within the next six months.
