SBWCC Inmates Celebrate Easter With Their Families

By Lt. Alicia Carver, South Boise Women’s Correctional Center

Inmates at the South Boise Women’s Correctional Center prepared for the holiday weekend by crafting Easter baskets for their children.

Corporal Fisher coordinated and facilitated the craft event and instructed the women through the process of making an egg-shaped basket for their children.

Once completed, the eggs were stuffed with toys and gifts that were donated by the amazing volunteers from the South Boise Women’s Correctional Center.

When the children arrived for their Easter weekend visit, they were greeted by their mothers with their Easter gifts.

The inmates and their families continued the holiday celebration with a special holiday craft and an Easter egg hunt hosted by staff.

Family re-unification and providing the inmates with an opportunity to maintain and re-establish bonds with their children and families are a priority for staff at SBWCC.

Special holiday events such as this provide these families the opportunity to maintain these bonds and celebrate in a healthy family-oriented manner.
