Suspected cases of norovirus have prompted the cancellation of visiting scheduled for this weekend at South Boise Women's Correctional Center.

Seventeen inmates are showing symptoms consistent with norovirus. Test results are expected back on Monday.

Norovirus is a common illness that is sometimes referred to as "food poisoning" or the "stomach flu."  Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.

SBWCC is a 284-bed treatment and transition facility for minimum-security, female offenders. It is located in the South Boise Correctional Complex.
