After 5 years of service, IDOC staff are vested in one of the nation's best retirement systems, and our law enforcement staff are eligible for Rule of 80 retirement benefits.

In addition to the annual base salary, the State of Idaho makes financial contributions for every IDOC employee. These contributions are non-taxed, and although they are not paid in a traditional sense, they significantly raise IDOC employee's total compensation.

For example, a new correctional officer makes $42,120 annually, and the State of Idaho contributes $20,997 in other benefits to this base salary. This raises a new correctional officer’s total compensation to $63,117 annually.

Learning Opportunities: Observe interaction between Probation and Parole Officers and clients during home and office visits, read and learn IDOC policy, learn to use the Corrections Integrated System, and ride along during home visits. Assist Probation and Parole Officers with documentation including writing reports.

District 3 - Caldwell and Payette

Learning Opportunities: Student will be assigned to a senior Probation and Parole Officer who will train and orient them in the basic duties of their job. The student will also have the opportunity to train with the Drug Court Officer, the Sex Offender Officer, Pre-Sentence Investigator, and Drug and Alcohol Rehab Specialist to learn the unique responsibilities of those positions.

District 4 Boise & Surrounding Areas

Schedule: Hours dependent on credits
