First Lewis-Clark State College Graduation for Incarcerated Women
A milestone worth celebrating.
Recently, two incarcerated individuals at the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center became the first to graduate through the Lewis-Clark State College education program at PWCC, marking the first Lewis-Clark State College graduation for incarcerated women.
The Idaho Department of Correction was honored to welcome Lewis-Clark State College President Cynthia Pemberton and Idaho State Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield, who joined family members, staff, and supporters in recognizing the graduates’ hard work and achievement.
Education creates opportunities for growth, accountability, and a path forward. Programs like these help prepare incarcerated individuals for successful reentry, strengthening public safety and reducing recidivism while offering meaningful second chances.
Congratulations to these graduates on this remarkable accomplishment and the bright future ahead.
