Central Arizona Florence Correctional Complex
We understand that an out-of-state transfer impacts not only the resident, but also the families and loved ones who support them. These decisions are made carefully, following established criteria, and always with safety and security in mind for residents, staff, and the public.
Due to limited prison bed space in Idaho, residents who are more than two years away from their next parole hearing are prioritized for out-of-state transfer. In most cases, residents return to Idaho when they reach their Tentative Parole Date (TPD) or when they are reclassified to minimum custody.
At this time, the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) houses residents in two facilities in Arizona. If your loved one is located at the Central Arizona Florence Correctional Complex (CAFCC), the resources below are designed to help you stay informed, maintain communication, and remain connected.
About CAFCC
The Central Arizona Florence Correctional Complex (CAFCC) is located in Florence, Arizona, and has the capacity to house approximately 5,000 individuals.
Residents from the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) are housed together within a dedicated unit at the facility. This allows for more consistent management, programming, and communication specific to Idaho residents.
IDOC maintains active oversight of its contract with the facility. IDOC staff are regularly present on-site to monitor operations, support residents, and ensure that standards for safety, security, and care are upheld.

Available services
Residents at the CAFCC have access to medical care, mental health, and religious services to support their overall well-being.
Programming opportunities are more limited compared to in-state facilities; however, residents may still participate in available activities as space and resources allow.
Residents can work toward a lower custody level through positive behavior and compliance with facility expectations. Job opportunities are also available, providing residents with a chance to build skills and maintain a structured daily routine.
