After several months of collaboration with the Idaho Department of Labor and continued advocacy before the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses Electrical Board, a significant milestone has been reached for the Idaho Department of Correction’s Robert Janss School (RJS) Electrical Program.

The Board unanimously voted to recognize RJS Electrical Apprenticeship Levels 1 and 2 as an accredited component of the Idaho Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

This recognition means graduates of the RJS Electrical Program will no longer be required to pay for or repeat first- and second-year apprenticeship coursework. Instead, they may advance directly into the next phase of their apprenticeship through any approved state program of their choosing.

This achievement has been years in the making and represents a meaningful advancement for our students, our staff, and workforce development efforts across Idaho.
