A 26-year-old Idaho Maximum Security Institution resident who suffered serious injuries during an assault has died at a Boise hospital.

The man was declared dead at 8:02 p.m. Sunday.

Two residents attacked the man at the facility at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday. Idaho State Police detectives are conducting the investigation.    

Idaho Maximum Security Institution is a 535-bed correctional facility south of Boise.
