Dietary Services
The Idaho Department of Correction Dietary Services team provides well-balanced meals to the individuals in our care through a standardized statewide menu. Menus are developed with attention to nutrition, food safety, and operational requirements, and all facilities follow the approved recipes, ingredients, and portion sizes. Individuals may participate in approved selective diet options or receive a medically-ordered diet when needed. All menus are reviewed regularly by a registered dietitian to ensure they meet established guidelines and support the health and wellbeing of those we serve.
Dietary Options
Individuals receive meals based on the statewide mainline menu, which is followed consistently across all IDOC facilities. In addition to the mainline menu, individuals may request participation in approved selective diets, for example lacto-ovo vegetarian, vegan, no pork, Healthy Choice, or Common Fare. When an individual has dietary needs that cannot be met through these options, the facility medical provider may authorize a medically-indicated diet. All menus and diet options are designed to support safety, consistency, and nutritional adequacy throughout the correctional system.
