Victim Services

Victim Services offers assistance to the victims of crimes while an individual is incarcerated or on community supervision.

IDOC Victim Services can assist victims with: 

  • Providing information on individuals who are incarcerated or on community supervision
  • Connecting with support resources in the community
  • Safety planning
  • Stopping unwanted contact from incarcerated individuals
  • Reporting no contact order and civil protection order violations
  • Questions on restitution 

Notification Services

IDOC Victim Services notifies on term release, escape, and death. Updated contact information is required for victim notifications. It is the responsibility of victims who want to be notified to keep IDOC Victim Services up to date regarding their contact information. Please contact IDOC Victim Services with your current contact information.

VINELink is a free notification service that provides automated phone, text and/or email updates on movement and status changes of prison residents. Teletypewriter (TTY) is also available.

  • Register for free notification services at VINELink. There is also a VINELink mobile app available for download. 
  • You can select email, text or phone notification or all three. The phone notification requires a 4-digit PIN. The notification will continue every 2 hours for 48 hours, until the PIN is entered.
  • For questions on a specific VINE notification, please contact IDOC Victim Services. This is a separate service from IDOC victim services, however we can help you register or answer general questions on VINE notifications.

IDOC Resident/Client Search provides a tool to check on an individual in IDOC custody or on IDOC supervision.

  • This tool is updated at 4 a.m. each morning.
  • The prison locations page provides information on types of residents in each facility.
  • The probation & parole page provides information for individuals under supervision.
