Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) department delivers technology-driven tools, services, and support to the entire Department of Correction. It guarantees the services offered align with the agency's mission and vision by adhering to the priorities established by departmental leadership. The IT department consists of three distinct functional units.

Applications
This unit oversees the design and development of new applications and websites, as well as the enhancement and support of existing applications, to meet the needs of the organization.

Database
This unit is tasked with the design and upkeep of databases that facilitate the operations of agency applications.

Business Engagement (BE)
The BE team evaluates new and improved system functionalities to ensure they align with quality standards and fulfill business requirements.

Health Services

A contract medical provider, Centurion, provides direct medical care to incarcerated individuals in Idaho. IDOC health services employs five registered nurses that are responsible for monitoring and auditing the healthcare services contract. The National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) standards and the healthcare contract are used to measure contract compliance.

Contract Services & Procurement

The contract services group procures materials and services needed for the safe operations of agency facilities. This includes contract administration and contract monitoring for services contracts such as privately operated prisons, resident telephone, commissary, and health care services. Additionally, the department's grant officer oversees compliance for grants received and awarded by the agency.

Contract Facility Monitoring

Contract facilities are secure institutions operated by private sector corporations that are used by IDOC to reduce overcrowding at our facilities. The Deputy Warden and contract monitors maintain oversight of these facilities and conduct scheduled and unscheduled visits to all contract facilities as well as jails operated by local governments, as dictated by Idaho Statute. The Deputy Warden and contract monitors are on site weekly to ensure compliance with the contract which includes, but is not limited to:

Facility Services Unit

The Facility Services Unit (FSU) provides planning for the lifecycle of IDOC's infrastructure assets. The unit is responsible for preparing the department's capital project requests through the Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council (PBFAC) and works with the Division of Public Works (DPW) to ensure IDOC's infrastructure needs are met. The FSU is constantly working to promote well-designed and functioning facilities for IDOC now, and in the future.
